Tanzania Ecotourism Tours-full days

Tanzania Ecotourism Safari, Ecotourism in East Africa

There are several sites within Tanzania where ecological tours are conducted the most renown being the Usambara Mountains. Another is the Udzungwa Mountains. In these regions you learn the actions the community are taking to ensure that they sustain their natural heritage even as they continue to earn their livelihood directly from ecotourism, cultural tourism and related areas.

Tanzania has one of the largest animal populations in the world including w ildebeest, monkey, antelope, lion, cheetah, crocodile, gazelle and flamingo. It offers some of the best wildlife spotting opportunities on the continent.
Our Tanzania
Our Tanzania is our own quality seal for Eco tourism in Tanzani. The aim is to offer the adventurous tourist an alternative safari where you minimize your environmental impact and maximize the social benefits.

We have choosen the name Our Tanzania because we feel the country belongs to everybody in an equal manner. The people of Tanzania have a right to their home and you as visitors have a right to visit in a respectful manner. But the future generations tourists and Tanzanians have an equal right to this amazing country and thus we must preserve it for them.

This is our contribution to Eco tourism and a socially, environmentally and ecologically sustainable Tanzania.

Read more about our eco-tourism work and see our Eco-safari itineraries below.

Eco-tourism in Tanzania

So many Travel agents and tour operators speak about ecotourism but few really practice it, including oursleves, in a way that is truly ecological. Let's all be honest, the concept is in many ways close to a fraud. How can tourism be called ecological if it involves flying across half the globe? Most tourists in Tanzania come from North America, Europe and Australia and thus if we want to be true to the meaning of the word ecological eco-tourism is quite impossible in Tanzania.
We have therefore started the initiative Our Tanzania to get as close to true ecotourism as we can. Our starting points are that we:

Provide high quality safari alternatives for tourists who want to minimize their environmental impacts.
Only use selected environmentally and socially concious hotels with good working conditions
Focus on activities such as walking, canoeing and biking to minimize transport and fuel usage
Involve cultural activities in the safari to increase tourists knowledge and understanding of Tanzania's people and culture
Use overland transport instead of domestic flights. This also means customizing itineraries in ways that allow us to travel by car or bus instead of plane
This means less luxury but also, we believe, a closer and more personal touch and a more interesting meeting with Tanzania.

Itineraries

We are constantly working to develop more itineraries within the Our Tanzania initiative.
