Day 1: Kisumu City Excursion
After arriving in Kisumu by air from Nairobi at about 8.30am, you will be met by our tour manager and a guide who will then take you to your hotel for check-in, briefing and late breakfast. The day is spent visiting the various attractions of this Lakeside City including the Local museum which is rich in cultural and archeological artifacts, the impala Park, the Kiboko Bay to see the hippos, children's homes, the pier, the City Market and the Fish Market, Riat hills for a panoramic view of the Kisumu City and Lake Victoria. Lunch will be at Tilapia Beach Resort by the shores of Lake Victoria or Kisumu Beach Resort. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (Kisumu City Tour by night for those who like some fun as they sample the delights of this Western Kenya City - optional). Kit Mikaye in Western Kenya

Day 2: Kisumu City - Got Ramogi - Kamito (Aram)
After breakfast depart for Kit Mikaye (the rock that has a story to tell that is steeped in the mythology of the Luo people),Take a boat ride from Kaloka beach to Ndere island National park where you will see wild animals, birds and Reptiles and back to Kaloka beach. Continue to Usenge on the shores of Lake Victoria via the Late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's mausoleum - Kan'go ka Jaramogi, attempt to climb Got Ramogi - Hill (the home of the grand father of the Luo community when the Luo tribe first settled on Lake Victoria) in the afternoon after a lunch of fresh fish and other savories that include local fare. Drive back to Kamito beach. The evening is spent listening to fork-lore by a campfire on the shores of the lake even as your meal or mutton or lamb roasts on a spit in the open. Overnight in a middle class hotel, on a campsite or home stays in an ambassadorial posh rural home on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 3: Kamito (Aram) - Luanda Kotieno- Mbita
After an early visit to the shores of Lake Victoria to see the swarming market as fishermen and other trades-people sell their wares we travel to Luanda Kotieno beach ready to board the ferry to Mbita Point, a major center for insect study that hosts the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), this is a 45 minutes ride on Lake Victoria Gulf. The day is spent at Mbita with a boat ride to Takawiri or Mfangano Islands in Lake Victoria and a drive cross the causeway to Rusinga Island famous as a bird watchers' island and also home to the late Tom Mboya a prominent Kenyan politicians who was assassinated in 1969 and whose remains were interred in a Memorial Mausoleum on the island. We partake of lunch on the island before driving to Lake Victoria Safari Village for dinner and an overnight stay at the beautiful lakeside resort-Lake Victoria Safari Village.

Day 4: Lake Victoria Safari Village
This day is engaged in investigating the local peoples' culture and visiting the market place and either Climbing one of the nearby hills to see the golden sunset over Lake Victoria even as the panoramic view of the lake's islands and the vast expanse of this great inland sea unfolds before your eyes or Spend the day fishing on the Lake together with the local fishermen or Take a boating trip to explore the nearby islands of Lake Victoria or Relax on the hotel grounds and take a break from the safari itinerary. At sunset you are entertained by local traditional dancers and story tellers. Dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5: Mbita Point - Homabay
An early drive further south after breakfast to Ruma National park , game drive followed by lunch at Ndhiwa then continue to Thim Lich Ohinga then to Gogo falls. Drive to Awendo in the centre of sugarcane plantation. A tour of the sugar cane plantation is followed by dinner and overnight at Awendo.

Day 6: Homabay - Kisumu
After breakfast proceed to Homabay then to Kanjira Hot springs and to Lake Simbi Nyaima. We have a walk around this lake, see different types of birds, and talk to local people to know much about this magical lake. Then proceed to Kendu Bay for lunch before visiting Odino falls where we see the rural development projects e.g. schools, churches and the hydro-electric power station. We then proceed to Kisumu via the Ahero rice irrigation scheme. Dinner and overnight stay at Sunset Hotel, Kisumu.

Day 7: Kisumu - Nairobi
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi with the morning flight at 8.30am

Lake Victoria Ecotourism Special -7 Days

Day 1: Nairobi - Kisumu
Leave Nairobi in the morning, have lunch at Kericho. Walk in the tea plantations then drive via Lwanda Magere (the Luo warrior who was killed and turned into a stone) continue to Kisumu for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Ndere Island National Park – Kisumu City Tour
After breakfast drive to Kaloka beach, take a boat to Ndere Island national park see some game and bird life. Row the boat back to Kaloka beach. Drive via Kit- Mikaye (This rock is where Mikaye the mother of Luo tribe sheltered herself after along journey down the Nile) drive back to Kisumu for Lunch. Kisumu tour takes you to Impala Park, Kisumu Museum, The Kisumu city market, Children’s Homes, women groups, Kisumu beach Resort, Tilapia beach, Kiboko Bay and Dunga beach are optional. Dinner and overnight stay in Kisumu hotel.

Day 3: Kisumu - Kakamega Forest
After breakfast, drive to Kakamega via the weeping stone , full day exploration of Kakamega forest in search of birds, butterflies and animals such as Debrazza, colobus, blue and red tailed monkeys and olive baboons. Over 30 varieties of snakes including the deadly gaboon viper, Jameson’s mamba and black mamba are found here among other animals. Great and very old indigenous trees, some are hundreds of years old. Lunch at the camp site.

Kakamega forest; is a home to over 300 species of birds, over 400 species of butterflies, seven species of monkeys and other mammals, as well as snakes and other reptiles and various insects. It is the home for the endangered Debrazza monkey. The unique factor about Kakamega game reserve is that is the only tropical rain forest in Kenya which once stretched from West Africa across Central Africa and into the highlands of east and west walls of the Great Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight at rondo retreat.

Day 4: Kakamega - Homa Bay
Leave Kakamega after breakfast, pass through Kisumu city, drive southwards through rice plantations in Kano plains to Odino falls after brief stop continue to Kendu bay for lunch. Proceed to Lake Simbi Nyaima for bird viewing; continue to Kanjira and Kanam hot springs onto Homa bay for dinner and overnight stay at Homa bay Tourist hotel.

Day 5: Homa Bay - Rusinga - Mbita
Drive to Rusinga, do a tour of the Island to the historical places including the museum (where the remains of the first man were found) by Doctor Louise Leakey, Tom Mboya Mausoleum where this accomplished nationalist cum- politician was buried. After his assassination on a Nairobi street. Return to Mbita for dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria safari village.

Day 6: Mbita- Ruma National Park - Awendo
Depart after breakfast drive through hills and meandering road to Ruma national park with a picnic lunch, do game drive then drive out to Thim Lich Ohinga onto Gogo falls then to Awendo for dinner and overnight.

Ruma national park was first gazetted as Lambwe Valley Game Reserve. The park was established mainly to protect the Roan antelope found in this place. Located 140km from Kisumu, 10 km east of Lake Victoria and the south west of Homa bay. It lies on the flat floor of the Lambwe valley, bordered by the Kanyamaa escarpment to the south. Other animals to be seen in this park are the Jackson’s hartebeest a large and redder species than Coke’s which is found in most parks in Kenya. Oribi, one of the smallest of the antelope family, are also seen predators cheetah and leopard.

Day 7: Awendo - Nairobi
Depart Awendo, drive past sugar plantations with a stop over at Tabaka soap stone carving site at Kisii, and pass through the Great Rift Valley back to the city of Nairobi. Lunch at Nakuru town at Merica hotel.
